Sun Safety Tips

Reapply kids face and body sunscreen early and often - every 2 hours

Make it a habit to apply kids face and body sunscreen to your child every day

Girl playing in water at beach - Face and body sunscreen lotion can be covered by FSA & HRA accounts

Practice total sun safety and wear protective hats and clothing in addition to a sunscreen with SPF

APPLY EARLY AND OFTEN

Apply sunscreen 15 minutes before going out, and reapply every 2 hours, as well as after sweating, swimming or towel drying.

Sticks: apply 3 to 4 passes back and forth per area.

MAKE IT A HABIT

Teach kids sun-safe habits from a young age and apply sunscreen with them every day. Apply the sunscreen 15 minutes before sun exposure. Dot sunscreen all over your kids, and race to see who can rub it in fastest. Set a timer for when it’s time to reapply (at least every 2 hours), and celebrate “sunscreen time” with a snack or special activity.

CHECK YOUR HEALTH PLAN

Sunscreen is eligible for reimbursement with flexible spending accounts (FSA), health savings accounts (HSA), and health reimbursement accounts (HRA).

Product eligibility may vary by plan. Check with your benefits administrator to determine which expenses are eligible before you shop.

PRACTICE TOTAL SUN SAFETY

At school or camp ensure your little one is prepared with a hat, sunglasses and extra sunscreen if allowed. Most importantly, encourage sun safety by setting a good example for your kids.
